What we do
Gladstone AI’s mission is to ensure that future AI systems are developed safely and don’t pose a danger to humanity. We help governments and enterprises reach information parity with cutting-edge AI labs so that they can respond to new advances in ways that recognize the risks they introduce. Find out more about us and our mission here.
One of our products is a video-based course on the foundations of AI. The course has been used to train hundreds of senior leaders in DoD to understand how AI works, how it can be used responsibly, and the risks associated with frontier AI development.
About the role
Gladstone is on track to train hundreds of senior DoD personnel each month, and we need help supporting those students as they go through the courses that we offer. Our top priority is to make sure those students walk away with a better understanding of AI risk – and that’s only possible if they have an amazing experience. You’ll be helping us to respond to students’ questions about the course, and find ways to make our execution more efficient and scalable:
- Giving students an amazing course experience. ⚡️
- Flagging opportunities to our sales team. 💲
- Answering students’ questions about the material. 🧑💻
- Finding ways to measure student satisfaction. 😀
- Identifying pain points in the student journey. 🔎
- Acting as an executive assistant in support of our AI safety policy work. 🤖
This is a full-time, junior role—in other words, we're expecting to hire someone with no more than 1-3 years' work experience, though we're happy to consider more senior folks too. We expect we'll be training you at first, and that afterwards you'll take over our process and start improving it.
The salary will be in the $60,000-$80,000 range. The compensation will also include equity in Gladstone which will begin vesting at the end of the training period, according to a commonly used startup vesting schedule.
The role is remote, though you’ll have to be based in the U.S., and bonus points if you’re in the D.C. area!
Unfortunately we're still too small to sponsor visas, so you'll need to be a U.S. citizen.
We think you'll love us if:
- You’re mission-driven and want to make an impact. 🎯You’re not necessarily an expert on AI risk, but you’re the kind of person who gets fired up about working on something with purpose.
- You’re comfortable having written discussions. ✍️ A lot of the information exchange in our meetings happens in writing, before anyone’s said a word aloud. That keeps our meetings short, and it ensures our decisions are driven by the best arguments rather than the loudest ones.
- You love to grow, learn and improve. 🚀 We work in a field where world-shattering developments happen every week. There’s no substitute for being able to roll with the punches, learn fast, and adapt on the fly.
- You like to tell stories. 📖 Storytelling is a core competency for us: the better we communicate the complicated ideas behind AI risk, the more effectively we can advance our mission. You’ll be interacting directly with students, which means you’ll be a key evangelist for that mission. So you need to be comfortable telling great stories!
We’ll definitely love you if:
- You get energized from interacting with other people.
- When you see someone in trouble, your first instinct is, “How can I help them?”
- You’re an excellent writer. (Not in the sense that you know lots of big words, but in the sense that you can write clearly.)
- You have a touch of OCD when it comes to formatting. Upon reading this sentence , you should wince at the placement of my comma.
- You know how to communicate value. If you made a valuable widget, you can explain to a random person why it’s valuable—and why they should care about it.
- You’ve taken a stats course or three, and/or a computer science course or three—but you’re interested in learning more of both.
- If the stars align, you just might want to work in this area for the next ten years.
